Woodstock police and Law Enforcement initiative to reduce crime

The Woodstock police together with other Law Enforcement Agencies operating in Woodstock executed a joint operation over the weekend.

The team had various successes in their operation.

Woodstock Police Spokesperson Hilton Malila said the aim of this operation was to reduce crime and to create visibility in the area.

Malila said during the execution of high visibility stop-and-search operations, five suspects were arrested for theft out of motor vehicles and robbery incidents.

Vehicle check-points were set up and in various places and two drivers were arrested for drunk driving.

“Fines to the value of R24 000 were issued, we also confiscated 15 packets of tik and a parcel of dagga over the weekend; the estimated value of the confiscation is R1 500” Malila said.

Malila added that the suspects would appear today in the Cape Town Magistrate Court.
