The City of Cape
Town is getting tough on its staff, it has
estimated that 10 percent of their 27 000 staff members have an addiction
problem.
City Spokesperson Kylie Hatton said tougher
stance on drug and alcohol abusers will be taken following the city’s revised
substance abuse policy.
Hatton said the City has a number of
initiatives to assist people who are affected by drug and alcohol and drug
problems through Matrix clinics.
The City encourages people who need to
make use of these facilities to contact their local day clinic.
“We also have an alcohol and drug
helpline which is a 24 hour 7 days a week helpline the number is 0800 435 758”
Hatton added.
