DA Leader in the Western Cape Ivan Meyer said the ANC is punishing the people of Khayelitsha and Mitchell’s Plain by proposing the toll roads.
The South African National Roads Agency Limited has indicated that they are ready to start with the project, but the City of Cape Town
Meanwhile the Afriocan National Congress in the province said they will discuss the toll roads at its PEC meeting and in its regions before it officially responds to the proposal by Sanral.
ANC Western Cape Chairperson Marius Fransman said the ANC is acutely aware of the economic sensitiveties of the issue of toll roads.
"The ANC will consider the matter and engage with the national government and Sanral" added Fransman.
He added that the ANC will remain oppose to any project that might infringe on the poor.
