The Department of International Relations and Cooperation has today confirmed that 28 athletes were registered for the Boston Marathon.

Two bombs ripped through the crowd at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday killing three people.

Departmental Spokesperson Clayson Monyela said two South Africans were injured in the blast but they are receiving assistants.

DIRCO has condemned the attack saying the South African government does not believe that such kind of violence has a place in our society.

Monyela said they are calling on the international community to rally and eradicate this sort of incident from our society.
