TheDNA Bill
has come under the spotlight in the past few weeks.
The
The Bill if passed will mean
suspected and convicted criminals will have their DNA profile
included on the national DNA database,
which will be compared to DNA
profiles collected from crime scenes and victims of crime.
The DNA Project
has been lobbying for this legislation since 2008, when the first draft DNA Bill
was presented to Cabinet.

Vanessa Lynch said the DNA Bill
has been in Parliament for the last five years.
Lynch also said it is expected to be
tabled in Parliament on Wednesday and once tabled it will be allocated to the
Portfolio Committee for Police.
She
added that it may be reviewed in the next few months.
