Gauteng motorists must prepare for e-tolls

Motorist in Gauteng need to prepare for e-tolls, as the South African National Roads Agency of South Africa announced that e-tolling in the province will begin within two months. 

Sanral spokesperson Vusi Mona said in a statement motorists need to register for their e-tags to qualify for discounts and avoid the last minute rush. 

It was reported that around 60 000 people had registered for e-tags. 

Mona said that he can confirm that in Gauteng the e-toll will be commencing in the next two months.

Mona added that with recent discussions between SANRAL and the department of transport had it had emerged that that they need to go live with e-tolling within the next two months.

“What they are currently waiting for is the completion of the parliamentary process, half of which is already done,” Sanral spokesman Vusi Mona said.

Furthermore Mona explained as the National Council of Provinces finalises the Transport and Related Matters Amendment Bill, the bill will go back to the National Assembly for adoption.
