The Cape Town's has announced that public
participation process relating to the liquor trading days and hours by-law will
begin next week Friday.
Certain aspects of the by-law are being
reviewed by the city, including that no alcohol can be sold on a Sunday.
Mayoral Committee Member for Economic,
Environmental and Spatial Planning Garreth Bloor explains that the public
participation process for the proposed amendment of the liquor by law will be
starting soon.
Bloor added that the first round will be
open for 30 days to welcome comment from the public on the proposed amendment,
after that they as council will then go and apply those comments into the draft
and then present it for a second round of public participation.
Furthermore Bloor explains that this is
done so that all stakeholders can confirm that all information has been
accurately captured and represented in terms of the consideration of amending
the by-law.
