Metrorail guard allegedly assaulted a commuter

A Metrorail guard was caught on camera allegedly assaulting a commuter on Thursday evening at Kraaifontein station.

 It is alleged that the commuter was caught traveling without a ticket. 

The commuter was manhandled and stripped of his shirt and hat. 

Metrorail Regional Manager Mthuthuzeli Swartz said this kind of behavior is unacceptable. 

Swartz added that they have instituted an urgent investigation to find out the circumstances under which incident have happened.

Swartz added that they will take a decisive step to address this incident

“We don’t want to preamp the outcome of the investigation we will allow the company to follow its internal processes, as soon as the decision and outcome have been made we will notify our commuters.”  Swartz added.
