The African Christian Democratic Party
today said it notes research which suggests that living on a farm or a small
holding in Gauteng and being older
than 60 years makes people vulnerable targets for farm attacks in South Africa .
Spokesperson for MP Cheryllyn Dudley, Keeno
Petersen said more than 19.8% of the 3 319 farm attacks recorded over a period
of 23 years occurred in Gauteng .
Petersen added that over a 23 year period
there are reported to have been 1,610 murder victims with an average of 3
attackers.
Petersen also said ACPD calls on the
minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Safety Security to publish a joint
document outlining the strategy and measures in place to increase the safety
and security of farmers.
