The African Christian Democratic Party has called on the Minister of Health Aaron Motsoaledi to expand the reach of human milk banking.

The South African Breastmilk Reserve which controls over 90 percent of breastmilk banking activities in the country, targets the highest risk population.

ACDP said the Medical Research Council budget is simply not enough to build health and research at universities and medical schools.

ACDP’s MP Cheryllyn Dudley said that they haven’t had any clear responses in terms of why it is so important that specialist do not actually work after they have completed their 40 hours in a government hospital.

Dudley furthermore added that there are accusations that doctors have been abusing this.

“But what the ACDP is saying is that if there are doctors who abuse it, surely we should deal with those specific doctors and not penalise all doctors,” said Dudley
