Broadband network pilot project to be implemented in Khayelitsha

The Western Cape government through the Urban Upgrade area in Khayelitsha has been selected as one of the first spaces to be linked to the broadband network. 

MEC of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Alan Winde said the Western Cape Government's broadband network will play a major role in transforming residents’ lives. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronwynne Jooste said VPUU in Khayelitsha is one of the areas of major business hub and is also one of the former disadvantaged areas.

Jooste added that cheaper faster internet will draw more investment into the area creating jobs and opportunities for the people.
