More concerns are increasing over the safety at Monwabisi beach resort.

It has been reported that ten people have drowned at Monwabisi beach in the last three years.

Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Special Projects Belinda Walker said more lifeguards are needed.

This follows the drowning of two nine-year-olds from Mitchell’s Plain last week.

Walker said the pool itself is like any other pool, dangerous more especially if the people that are swimming are unsupervised and young children.
