Four injured in a Houtbay explosion

The Western Cape fire department late last night responded to a fire in Houtbay near the harbour.

A container that had been converted into a small shop caught alight which left five people injured. 

The exact details of the cause of the fire are still being investigated by police. 

ER24’s Vanessa Jackson said the fire fighters were putting the fire out inside, when they heard an explosion.

“Three of the fire fighters who were outside were injured but only sustained minor injuries; the woman who was inside the shop suffer critical injuries” Jackson added.

Jackson also said they were transported to nearby hospital.
