The South African Social Security Agency today
confirmed that nine officials have been arrested.
Sassa management said they were alerted of
fraudulent activities taking place at the Gugulethu Sassa payout point
offices.
Following the arrest the payout point
office had to be closed down. The nine
suspects are all facing fraud and corruption charges.
Sassa Head of Communication Paseka Letsatsi
said co-operation of Sassa and SAPS played a pivotal role on the identification
of these officials.
