Two fatalities recorded on the roads in the WC

The Western Cape Traffic Department held 24 roadblocks over the weekend.

2 183 vehicles were stopped and 924 drivers tested for alcohol. 21 drunk drivers were arrested.

WC Traffic Chief Kenny Africa further said a person was arrested for driving at 124 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, another person for attempted murder, one for negligent and reckless driving and also for damaging government property.

“The total amount of fines we issued was R 160 100, we also screened the speed of 15 210 vehicles which we prosecuted 213 drivers for exceeding the speed limit” Africa added.

Africa also said there were two fatalities recorded over the weekend, one pedestrian knocked down on the R300 Hindle road, and a driver who lost control of his vehicle on the N2 near Mossel Bay.
