Earlier this morning paramedics responded to an accident between Stikland and Brackenfell whereby a 19-year-old school boy was killed.

It is believed that the boy was trying to cross the tracks when he was knocked down by a passenger train.

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said when they arrived they found the remains of the school child next to the tracks.

Jackson added that sadly there was nothing else that paramedics could do and he was declared dead on the scene due to the nature of the injuries he had sustained.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal and tragic accident.
