Hout Bay National Sea Rescue Institute volunteers on Monday rescued a 26-year-old fisherman.

The man fell ill onboard after vomiting blood.

Western Cape Government Health EMS duty doctor, who evaluated the medical condition of the patient by radio telephone, deemed it necessary for the fisherman to be evacuated to hospital at the earliest opportunity.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the man was assisted by the paramedics and helped to get off-shore before being transported to hospital.
