CASAC welcomes Zuma’s commitment to appoint a NPA head

The Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution has today welcomed the commitment by President Jacob Zuma that he will be appointing a permanent NPA head by the end of August.

The NPA has been without a permanent chief since November 2011 after Menzi Simelane's appointment was declared invalid.

CASAC’s Lawson Naidoo said they hoped that this would have been possible without having resorted to the court action.

The court action has indicated that they do now have a deadline, by which the President will make this very important appointment.
