Government intends to withdraw the refugee status of all Angolan refugees on the 31st of August 2013.

The Department of Home Affairs has made available several options for Angolans who want to stay in the country which include business, work and temporary resident permits.

Marlise Opperman from the Scalabrini Centre said they are concerned because many Angolans are not aware of this yet.

“We urge them to go the Department of Home Affairs in Cape Town to get the necessary information pertaining to their individual cases,” Opperman added.
