Grahamstown residents angry over Housing Development

The Unemployed People’s Movement said anger is brewing in Grahamstown about the Housing Development in Extension Ten for sometime now.

Unemployed People’s Movement’s Ayanda Kota said they held a meeting last month with residents whereby frustration over the list of people set to receive houses has changed too many times, without any explanation or consultation. 

Kota said when they were gathering, they were threatened with police, and if the police were inadequate the army would be arranged for the gatherers.

“We had no option, because we did not want people to be arrested and shot, we then called it off.

“We will be converging again today at our office to discuss the way forward” Kota added.
