The Minster of Police Nathi Mthethwa said he is deeply concerned about the continuous killings of police officers in the country.

Two police officers were shot in Nyanga on Monday leaving one dead.

Mthethwa said those who seek to derail the crime-reduction efforts, merciless criminals whose intention is to create anguish amongst the force, will not succeed.

Ministerial Spokesperson Zweli Mnisi said they want to urge South Africans to rally behind Police Officers to support them and also to ensure they expose those who kill Police Officers.

“A message to Officers is that we urge them to be on the look-out and alert at all the time whenever they respond to crime callers and they can do so by ensuring that they put on their bullet proof vests,”  Mnisi added.

A research has indicated that most of the murdered cops are short in the chest.
