The National Education Health and Allied Workers Union said it is concerned by government’s failure to employ qualified doctors and nurses.
Nehawu said it is aware of some nurses who have completed their training in the Western Cape but have not been placed in professional nursing posts.
Nehawu Spokesperson Sizwe Pamla said enormous resources were handed out to the National Health Department to ensure that qualified medical personnel are employed in the public service.
“We think that the national Minister should be tough against these provincial governments, because public service is in a crisis.
“For us to turn this around we need to fill all vacant posts; we can not afford to have doctors and nurses in the country” Pamla added.
