The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union today said it is highly concerned by the recent series of police killings across the country.

This follows the shooting of two police officers in Nyanga on Monday night leaving one dead.

Popcru is calling for an end to the butchering of police members, and also calls on South African Police Services to put into effect practical solutions to the problem.

Popcru Spokesperson Theto Mahlakoana said that they are highly concerned about the ambushing of the two flying squad members in the Cape Flats on Monday night, where a police officer died as a consequence.

She furthermore said that they are appealing with members of the communities across the country to ensure that whenever there is an incident of this nature that they report it with whatever information they have at their disposal.

“So that these murderers who are trying to take away from us, our skilled women and men in blue are brought to justice,” added Mahlakoana.
