President Jacob Zuma is also attending the conference.
As part of efforts to improve the
health of the continent’s citizens and reduce maternal, new born and child
health, the African Union has partnered with the South African Government in a
three day conference in Johannesburg .
The conference will look at
underlying challenges linked to gender inequalities, social exclusion and weak
public health systems in Africa .
AU Commission Chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini
Zuma said they will be doing everything in their effort to make sure that the
issue remains on the agenda of the state government.
Dlamini-Zuma added that they will
also ensure that they engage with the issues discussed at the conference and get reports from the countries
on the progress made.
