The case against the leader of People
Against Gangsterism and Drugs was this afternoon postponed in the Athlone
Magistrate Court .
Abdus Salaam Ebrahim has been
charged on three counts of murder and one of attempted murder.
Pagad’s Cassiem Parker said it is
unfortunate that Ebhrahim has to spend the weekend in jail. The leader is expected back in court
on the 26th of August for a formal bail application.
Parker added that it is clear that
the police have not formulated any clear charges yet and they do not have anything
linking Abdus to the crimes.
"It is a prosecution of the
highest order and detention without trial,” Parker added.
