DA: 340 000 learners have no sanitation facilities in EC

The Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape said 340 000 learners in the province attend a school without proper toilets everyday and in some cases there are no toilets at all. 

The DA said this is data which was obtained by the party from the Education Department in the process of a compliant laid by the DA to the Human Rights Commission. 

DA Provincial Education Spokesperson Edmund van Vuuren said the party is very disappointed that the human dignity of learners has been violated.

Van Vuuren added that they are appealing to the Department of Education to have these sanitation facility eructated soon rather than later.
