The
Democratic Alliance requested a week ago for Minister of Finance Praven Gordhan
to investigate the depleted contingency reserve of the Government Employee
Pension Fund with no success.
The DA
is calling on the Minister to establish what the exact current level of the
GEPF’s contingency reserve is and what the fund is doing to ensure that the
situation is turned around.
DA
Deputy MP of Finance David Ross said the DA is concerned about the silence from
the Minister over the low GDPF reserves.
Ross
added that the Minister needs to respond with regards to steps that will be
taken by the GDPF reserves.
