Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said 11
drunken drivers was arrested in the Western Cape over the weekend.
Several roadblocks were held in the province from the start of the weekend.
Africa said more than 900 drivers were tested for alcohol.
While the Province continues to record a downward trend in road deaths, a
mid-year review of road accident deaths released by the Western Cape
Government has shown that the rate at which they are decreasing in 2013 is at
its lowest compared to other years.
“There were no fatalities reported on the main and national routes in the
Western Cape this weekend except for two fatalities that were
reported early on Saturday morning in Mitchells Plain, where a
vehicle ploughed into a house,” added Africa
Furthermore he said the two occupants in the vehicle diedAfrica also added that the total fines which they issued amounted to R100 800.
