MEC Winde said oil leak stopped in the Southern Cape

Western Cape MEC of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Alan Winde on Thursday went to the Southern Cape to monitor efforts to refloat the stranded cargo ship, the Kiani Satu. 

MEC Winde said the amount of oil along the coastline is 75% less then it was two days ago. 

He added that he was taken to suprise by the reduction of the oil on the beach.

MEC Winde further added that they express their gratitude to the professionals and volunteers who have had several late nights and early mornings.

“Their dedication to solving this problem is admirable, everyone has pulled together and the people of the Western Cape appreciate their extra time and effort” Winde said.
