The North Gauteng High Court has
today given the National Prosecuting Authority five days to hand over to the
Democratic Alliance the transcript of the spy tapes that were used to drop
charges against President Jacob Zuma in 2009.
DA’s James Selfe said they are happy
with the judgment.
Selfe added that they regarded as
the indication of the efforts they have put in over the last four years to
secure the spy tapes and the memorandum that relates to the decision to drop
the prosecution against Jacob Zuma.
The DA will now consult with our
lawyers at the soonest available opportunity to initiate the substantive review
of that decision because we have all the way along maintain the decision to drop
prosecution against President Zuma was motivated by political factors not by
the law and we intend to go to the court and prove that.
