18 drivers arrested for drunken driving in the Western Cape

Western Cape Traffic Officials this weekend conducted 24 roadblocks across the province whereby 1 631 vehicles were stopped. 

Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said 841 drivers were tested for alcohol and there were only two fatalities reported on the provinces roads this weekend. 

Africa said 18 drunken drivers were arrested and the highest reading was recorded on the N1 just outside Worcester.

He added the total amount of fines issued is R 1 38 885-00 and some drivers were arrested for being in possession of false documentation.
