The Congress of South African Trade
Union today said it is shocked at the report by the International Monetary Fund
on the South African economy, which basically seek to blame the main victims of
our economic woes who are the workers and the poor.
Cosatu Spokesperson Patrick Craven
said huge levels of unemployment, inequality and poverty have been made worse
by the global economic crisis.
The report by the IMF shows that South
Africa was under-performing
in comparison to other emerging markets.
Craven said what is most worrying
and significance is that the IMF insists that part of the solution to the
problem is the implementation of the National Development plan.
“It confirms all Cosatu’s worst
fears of this plan to be endorsed by IMF” Craven added.
Craven further said they reject this
report and encourage government to have nothing to do with the poisonous
solutions given by the IMF.
