The Congress of South African Trade Union has strongly condemned in the strongest way, the murder of Branch Chairperson of the National Union of Mineworkers at Lonmin’s Western Platinum mine.

Cosatu Spokesperson Patrick Craven said SAPS must move with maximum speed to track down those responsible for this brutal assassination.

Craven said that the deaths continue, and there is a culture of impurity.

“We are renewing our call for urgent action by those responsible to bring the violence to an end, arrest the culprits and to enable citizens of the area to exercise their constitutional rights and to move freely about the community” Craven added.
