The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Services through Operation Reclaim, arrested Sibusiso Funisela who is the city’s number one most wanted traffic offender with over 238 outstanding warrants of arrest.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said Funisela is a taxi owner so most of the offences were not committed by him but he is responsible for the vehicles he owns and the behaviour of his drivers. He appeared in court on Wednesday and his case has been held over until the 29th of November.

Smith said that slowly but surely, they are tightening the noose around traffic offenders in making sure they face the music for their behaviour on the road.

Smith added that the operation reclaim has been tripled in capacity from 3 to 10 roadblocks per day; working with Automatic Number Plate Recognition and this along with the Admin Mark is making sure that offenders are not able to evade the consequences of their behaviour.
