DA calls for President Jacob Zuma to retract his statement

The Democratic Alliance said it wants to make it clear that South Africans are not backwards just because they do not want to welcome e-tolls. 

DA Premier Candidate for Gauteng, Mmusi Maimane has called for President Jacob Zuma to withdraw his statement he made last night in Johannesburg. 

Maimane said President must not make the remark that says South Africans are backward infect many of the economies that are growing are in Africa.

He added that what is important is that if we are not careful other nations are going to surpass us and paying for tolls can not be an indication that we are backwards.
