The Democratic Alliance said e-toll courts, if established will be a slap in the face of ordinary South Africans.

It was reported this week that the South African National Roads Agency Limited and the Department of Justice are in talks about establishing special courts, to deal with e-toll transgressors.

DA Deputy MP of Justice and Constitutional Development Debbie Schafer, said the Justice Department should be focusing on fixing the justice system and not creating special courts to protect government interests at the expense of the public.

Schafer said that it is obvious that the only way special e-toll courts can be implemented is by using existing resources, it is common knowledge that the existing resources are over stretched.

She furthermore added that the fact that this is even being considered is admission by government that the Justice System is failing ordinary South Africans.
