DA welcomes new municipal regulations

The Democratic Alliance has welcomed the tabling in Parliament of regulations to guide the appointment of senior managers at local government. 

DA MP of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs John Steenhuisen said now that the regulations have been tabled the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Lechesa Tsenoli must ensure that they become effective without any further delay. 

“These regulations are absolutely essential because what they are going to do is ensure that competent municipal mangers and senior municipal mangers are put into position most importantly it also prohibits any senior manager who’s been dismissed for corruption or maladministration from being appointed as a manager,” Steenhuisen

Steenhuisen added that those preview regulations will go along way towards reading out corrupt and poor municipal and create a system where they have a professional leadership at local government.
