MEC Carlisle proposed harsher punishment for motorists who transgress road rules

Western Cape MEC of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle has proposed a revision of laws to allow enforcement officers to impound vehicles, for things such as excessive speeding and driving cars that are not roadworthy.

MEC Carlisle said the province wants to harsher punishment for motorists who do not obey road rules.

Ministerial Spokesperson, Sipheshile Dube said that there’s hope the scope can be broadened to include matters that are of equal importance to road safety.
