Metrorail acquires R4 million for security measures

Metrorail in partnership with the Western Cape government has acquired R4 million from the province on security measures and one of the projects is the acquisition of scramblers, which will be used and deployed in areas that have difficult vehicle access.

The 25 scramblers will be implemented at key locations on Metrorail’s network.

The project is hoped to bring improvement in safety for commuters.
 
Metrorail’s Senior Manger for Strategic Operations, Eddie Chinnappen said that they’ve added lots of infrastructure projects and projects including security measures.

Chinnappen added that they’ve included CCTV cameras, fencing, extra staff, which has increased from 368 last year to 950 security officers for this year.
