Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa on Wednesday had a meeting with two taxi associations in Delft, which are the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association and the Convention for Democratic Taxi Association to try and bring to an end the taxi violence in the area.

Minister Mthethwa said he is aware that this is a transport matter but when people are being killed and intimated then it becomes a police matter.

Ministerial Spokesperson Zweli Mnisi said that they are happy to report that following a discussion, there was a consensus and willingness to cooperate in terms of dealing with the matter.

Mnisi added that there was a period of two weeks which was set up for further discussions between the police and the taxi associations to avert any further violence and death.
