Minister Trevor Manuel applies for Smart ID card

Minister in the Presidency Trevor Manuel on Thursday applied for his new ID smart card together with other cabinet ministers and premiers.

Manuel said the smart cards are a step forward for the country.

Minister Naledi Pandor said the new ID cards will assist the Department of Home Affairs in solving identity problems in South Africa.
 
Minister Manuel said it is very important that we use the identity system and ensure that it is free from corruption and verifiable throughout our lives.
