The Western Cape Social Development
Department said its early childhood development centre registration drive is
continuing.
The department now currently funds
1 060 ECD.
Social Development MEC Albert Fritz
said the reason of delays in ECD’s being registered has to do with local
government requirements, as it relates to health and safety.
MEC Fritz said he has met with the
City of Cape Town to
negotiate an agreement with the city to relax some of the provisions for
compliance.
Fritz said the Department is also
trying to get the registered ECD`s to work with the unregistered ones so as to
speed up the process.
