The National Sea Rescue Institute
and Mykonos volunteer sea rescue duty crew and SA Paramedic Services were
activated following reports of a wind surfer overdue on Langebaan lagoon.

Lambinon said Mykonos volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched sea rescue craft GEMINI
RESCUER II and the Transnet National Ports Authority Rescue Runner and
responded.

windsurfer, an adult male from Cape
Town
He also said while NSRI
commenced a search at sea paramedics checked along the shoreline where
eventually the windsurfer was found, by the paramedics, enjoying a drink at a
local pub. It appears that he had sailed past the pub and chosen to stop in for
a drink without informing his friend that he would be late.
He further urged
paddlers, sailors and boaters to let a responsible person know their launch
time, their exact route and their return time and to stick to their plan and
check-in with the responsible person on their safe return on time.
