The Alliance for Rural Democracy said it is disappointed at the National Council of Provinces again ignoring the voices of South Africans on the Traditional Courts Bill.

Hearings on the bill are expected to be held in several provinces in February next year and in the North West this month.

The Alliance for Rural Democracy’s Constance Mogale said they are also concerned about the deliberation by the committee on this bill.

“We rejected the bill because we believe it is undemocratic, unconstitutional it rips off the rural people of their rights and their constitutional rights.

The people of South Africa voted for the democratic constitution which gives people the right to legal representations in court, the right to choose the system of court and the right how they want to run their lives,” Mogale added.
