The City of Cape
Town said it will be suing suspended African
National Congress councilor Andile Lili and councilor Loyiso Nkohla who are
believed to have instituted the violent protest march which took place on
Wednesday at the CBD .
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety
and Security JP Smith said state property was damaged to the value of
R300 000.
Two people have since been arrested
for the violent protest.
Smith said the police should be
investigating this and the National Prosecuting Authority should ensure that
these two are prosecuted for the unlawful act and the City has got legal
opinion that even if they can not prove that the protest happened with the
command of the ANC but they can still sue the individuals directly.
