The City of Cape Town said it will be suing suspended African National Congress councilor Andile Lili and councilor Loyiso Nkohla who are believed to have instituted the violent protest march which took place on Wednesday at the CBD.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith said state property was damaged to the value of R300 000.

Two people have since been arrested for the violent protest.

Smith said the police should be investigating this and the National Prosecuting Authority should ensure that these two are prosecuted for the unlawful act and the City has got legal opinion that even if they can not prove that the protest happened with the command of the ANC but they can still sue the individuals directly.
