Today the Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa announced in Parliament that a review process of the National Key Points Act will be ready by the end of the month.

This after political parties made numerous calls to the minister for clarity on the declaration of a National Key Point.  The review will also include a consultation process in 2014.

Ministerial Spokesperson Zweli Mnisi said in the past there has been a lot of confusion in the public domain about this.

“This is based on international practices and that is why when we appointed a committee to look into this matter one of the recommendations which was critical was that the act needs to be reviewed to be in line with current constitutional transcript,” Mnisi added.
