The Democratic Alliance said it has been revealed in a Parliamentary question that President Jacob Zuma’s lawyer Michael Hulley has been paid R8.8 million by the Department of Justice since 2009.

DA Deputy MP of Justice and Constitutional Development Debbie Schafer said Hulley is being paid this amount to defend President Zuma in the Arms Deal and Spy Tapes matter which is unacceptable.

Schafer said the amount of money that has been paid to the President’s lawyer is ridiculous and for the people that have to pay taxes all the time.

She added that the President should be paying his lawyers out of his own pocket because these are his own cases.
