Western Cape Disaster Management will be targeting schools in vulnerable communities when they roll out the annual Fire and Flood Awareness campaign across the five district municipalities this week.

The campaign will try and minimise unnecessary fires and deaths in the province this is ahead of fire season.

Media Liaison for the provincial Disaster Management & Fire Brigade Services Lisa Geswindt said this is a campaign that uses industrial theatre as a means to educate and entertain learners on fire and flood safety.

“We teach children the emergency numbers which is 10177 from a landline and 112 from a cellphone, it also encourages preparedness for fires which can happen anytime” Geswindt added
