North West Premier Thandi Modise has condemned the alleged rape of a 4-year-old boy by a repeat juvenile offender.

The 4-year-old was reportedly playing with his friends in Rustenberg when the man grabbed him and raped him repeatedly in full view of his friends.

This as today marks the start of the 16 Days of Activism of no violence against women, children.

The suspect who allegedly raped the boy has a pending case for raping a 72-year-old grandmother.  Modise said communities need to come together and expose perpetrators of sexual violence.

Premier Spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele said the scourge of rape has crossed the gender line because even young boys are being raped, and we cannot have our communities living in fear.
