A truck had allegedly broken down on the N3 highway at the M2 split in Germiston this morning after which three other vehicles collided into it.

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said the collision of one truck into the back of the broken down truck was followed by a Hyundai bakkie colliding into the second truck and a third truck then colliding into the back of the Hyundai bakkie.

Jackson
said sadly the driver of the bakkie was killed while his brother who was sitting next to him suffered only minor injuries. The driver of the truck that is thought to have initially broken down was left with critical head injuries and both patients were transported to hospital for care of their injuries.

She added that the details leading up to the collision are still under police investigation.
